History and philosophy
On July 15th, 1861, Carl Schaefer founds the precious metal separating works of same name in Pforzheim.
In 1882, Adolf Schaefer takes over the management of the company.
In 1911, Carl Schaefer Jr. takes his father's place.
On February 23th, 1945, the company is nearly completely destroyed.
In 1949, Curt Schaefer starts rebuilding the company.
Alfred Schaefer-Krack becomes general manager at the age of 27 years – and managing director in 1979.
In 2008, his daughter Regina Rudorfer and the externally hired manager Daniel Schnelle take over the management of the company.
In 2011, Carl Schaefer Gold- und Silberscheideanstalt (Gold and Silver Separating Works) celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The Golden City of Pforzheim is the birthplace of a commercial enterprise with one objective: the provision of holistic services and product solutions covering every aspect of precious metals.
On July 15th, 1861, Carl Schaefer announced in Pforzheim:
"I hereby have the pleasure of announcing that I have taken over the Kehrets factory of Mr F. Ehrismann here in Pforzheim including all its assets, liabilities and current business operations and will, in future, operate the company under the name of CARL SCHAEFER & CIE.
By asking you to place your confidence in us, I am also assuring you that it will be my main objective to justify this trust in any way possible. 
I appeal to you to take note of this and remain at your service.
